Wednesday,February 23,2005 Posted: 02:48 BJT(1848 GMT)
The Third Global Annual Conference on 3G (third-generation mobile technology) was held in Cannes on February 14, 2005. The participants included quite a number of Chinese telecom equipment manufacturers including ZTE, Huawei, and Haier.
At the conference, ZTE unveiled a global strategic partnership agreement with Alcatel, according to which, Alcatel will install globally ZTE’s 3G-based CDMA2000 base station equipment while ZTE will be able to integrate its CDMA wireless connection equipment with Alcatel’s CDMA terminal solution platform. Many European and US reporters believe the agreement will enable Chinese firms to enter Europe’s 3G markets where competition is already intense.
